Showings on homes with SentriLock lockboxes were up 24% in May compared to one year ago, according to the NAR® SentriLock May 2021 Home Showings Report by the National Association of REALTORS® Research Group.
SentriLock lockboxes are used in roughly one-third of home showings across the nation. Every month, SentriLock, LLC provides its parent company, the National Association of REALTORS®, with data on the number of properties shown by a REALTOR®. Foot traffic has a strong correlation with future contracts and home sales, so it can be viewed as a peek ahead at sales trends two to three months into the future.
- Showings on homes with SentriLock lockboxes increased in May compared to one year ago. Nationally, SentriLock home showings were up 24% year-over-year, as home prices are at all-time highs and rapidly increasing. SentriLock showings totaled 1,030,784 for May, up from the 828,611 recorded in May 2020, and up from the 1,017,284 recorded the prior month.
- Showings rose in virtually every region. Increases were seen in the Northeast Region (111%); West Region (71%); and South Region (12%), while the Midwest Region experienced a slight decline (-1%).
- The number of active REALTORS® showing homes increased 19% year-over-year.
- The average number of showings per REALTOR® increased 5% year-over-year.
